Day -18: More packing

More boring packing stuff.  Feel very free to skip this one.

Finished the living room, except for a pile of paper, and did the kitchen too.  I might play some loud music tonight and get a head start on sorting the paper stack.  I seem to accumulate an inordinate amount of paper.

Took another look at my list of stuff to take on the road.  As arranged for the flight out, the main pack is 9.7kg, the day pack is 5 kg, I'm carrying 1.4 kg in my hands and I'm wearing 1.6 kg, grand total 17.5 kg.  That's too much – my target is less than 16 kg.  However, the weight includes some paper guidebooks that I'm now not taking so hopefully the weight will come down.

Reason so much weight in my hands and day pack is that after a scare in 2002 when my checked luggage didn't follow me out of Rome, I try to avoid packing my electrical chargers in my checked baggage.  Unfortunately in these terrorised days the cheerful lads in security tend to get a bit excited by electrical wiring in hand baggage so I may have no choice but to put the chargers in my pack and hope that my generous 4 hours in Abu Dhabi is enough time for Etihad to schlep it over to the Istanbul flight.

Melbourne's weather continues dry and warm, mid-20s - "c'mon out and walk in me" it says.  Somewhere in the next week or two (mid-April) it usually breaks, descending suddenly into the teens and sliding towards winter.  I expect that I'll be happy enough to leave the cold behind come the 21st.
